Offset printing is printing with a conventional printing press. It uses plates to transfer the image to the paper or card. Here at Classic we run high end Heidelberg presses and also manufacture our plates using a Heidelberg plate setter.

The advantage with offset printing as opposed to digital is the quality is much better as heat isn’t involved so the paper is less likely to curl and the image resolution is much sharper. Colours can also be more closely matched and with a smoother result especially on large solid areas. There are also options to use metallic inks (gold, silver, etc.)

There are also a much wider range of paper and card stocks that can be used. Digital is limited on  paper choice depending on the machine.

Offset printing is far more economical on large runs but not so for printing very small quantities. This is where digital is the better option.
