In-House Graphic Design

Having an in-house design capability at Classic Design & Print ensures that we can achieve the wishes and expectations of our customers in Bundaberg. All files are stored electronically and we keep a hard copy also. You will find that having your artwork designed in-house will be far more affordable than paying external graphic designers.

If you would like us to design the artwork for your print job, we require a rough initial concept of the type of look you are wanting. This can be in the form of a rough hand-drawn design along with text, and also information on desired colours to be used. If you have a logo to include, we would need that supplied in high resolution, preferably a vector image, otherwise a high res.jpeg (300 dpi) or a PDF. Same with any drawings or photos.

When the initial design is ready, we forward you a digital proof to see if you are happy and you are then able to send through any changes you require.

Artwork Guidelines

Images

To meet commercial printing standards, images need to be at 300 dpi. Anything less than 250dpi will not produce sharp clear prints and will appear pixilated or blurry even if they look good on screen.

Colour

Offset production requires colours to be in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black). Screen colours are RGB (red, green, blue) and if using RGB note that some colours cannot be produced to look the same in CMYK.

File Type

We require files to be saved in PDF format. This format avoids many issues that would otherwise be caused if provided in the program the artwork was designed in. Especially Microsoft files such as Word and Publisher as they more often than not cause font and line spacing problems.

Artwork Size

Please set up pages to size adding 3mm trim to the height and width of the page. An example is a business card which finished size would be 90mm X 54mm would need to have the page size set to 93mm x 57mm to allow for a 1.5mm trim all around. Background colour will need to be set to include the trim, i.e. 93mm X 57mm. Please be sure to keep text inside the finished trim size of 90mm X 54mm.
